Canyonlands National Park
I hired local Moab Professional Photographer Dan Norris to take us to remote locations. He shared with me many of his secret spots with spectacular canyon viewpoints.
One of my favorite was Marlboro Point which required a high-clearance vehicle. Marlboro Point is located in Big Flat, an area between Dead Horse Point State Park and Canyonlands National Park (Island in the Sky).
Mesa Arch is one of the most photographed locations in Canyonlands. I avoided the huge crowds at sunrise and the sunburst under the arch. The view under the arch is spectacular. So I waited until the sun was just peeking above the arch and was rewarded with a sunburst and a clear view underneath.
Canyonlands National Park in southeastern Utah is known for its dramatic desert landscape carved by the Colorado River. Island in the Sky is a huge, flat-topped mesa with panoramic overlooks. The Island in the Sky mesa rests on sheer sandstone cliffs over 1,000 feet (304 m) above the surrounding terrain. Every overlook offers a different perspective on Canyonlands' spectacular landscape.
